Japanese Ukiyo-e Art

Japanese Ukiyo-e, pictures of the floating world, originated in the Edo period of Japanese history. It was during this time when Japan was controled by shoguns, and was isolated from the rest of the world, that this style of woodblock prints became a popular art style.
